Throwback Thursday is a social media phenomenon, where users post an old image of themselves. Rather than subject you to countless images of an even younger me, I have decided that each Thursday I am going to subject you to an older image of mine, and how the image came about.
A nice little whip coral goby, shot in one of my favourite dive destinations – The Lembeh Straits, Indonesia.
Lembeh is an absolute mecca for underwater photographers, stuffed full of the weird and wonderful macro life SE Asia is famed for.
Shot using the horrific Canon Ixus 960 IS, I had to ‘trick’ the camera into behaving correctly underwater.
Inon strobes and and Inon macro lens provided illumination and magnification.
An improvement would be to have the coral and goby on a slightly greater angle.
A bigger improvement would be to shoot with a much larger aperture, and only have the eye in focus. Alas, this is nigh on impossible when using a compact camera.
